The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness
Subaru decided to answer the call of the wild in 2022 - introducing the first-ever Subaru Forester Wilderness to allow you to do more, see more, and explore more than ever before.
Tougher than your average crossover, the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is the automaker's answer to ruggedized alternatives that promise, but do not often deliver, on smooth on-road presence and fantastic off-road antics. The Forester Wilderness adds many unique features to make it a model worth an adventurer's attention.
Subaru did this by outfitting the Forester Wilderness with a new suspension that delivers proper lift and improved off-road angles, a revised transmission that yields more low-end torque to help it climb rocks, and extra exterior cladding to protect the vehicle from nicks and scratches while out exploring. Following in the footsteps of the Outback Wilderness, the Forester Wilderness is the second option in what Subaru promises to be a whole line of tougher vehicles designed to take you on bigger, better, and bolder adventures.

PERFORMANCE
The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is powered by the same engine as other Forester models--a 2.5-litre four-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine that delivers 182 horsepower and a 176 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a redesigned Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive, the Forester is designed to deliver a smooth ride since even the Wilderness model will most likely spend more time on pavement than off it. Like any Subaru, the Forester Wilderness offers a ride that is refined, steering that is accurate, and brakes that are strong.
Beyond the pavement, the Forester Wilderness happily skips over obstacles thanks to its best-in-class 9.2 inches of ground clearance. It rides above most traditional crossovers, even beating ruggedized alternatives from Ford, Jeep, and Toyota. The new CVT, grabby off-road tires, and active X-Mode allow the Forester Wilderness to scurry into the brush with ease.

DESIGN
Subaru provided a minor facelift to the 2022 Forester, giving it angular new headlights, a sharper grille, and a fresh set of fog lamps. The Wilderness model multiplies that design by adding a daunting amount of body cladding on the front end, extending it up from the running boards and connecting it with the headlights and grille. A sharp copper-coloured Forester logo is present on the model's side skirts, and a trio of "Subaru Wilderness" badges sit just below the side mirrors and hatch to differentiate the Wilderness model from its not-off-road-ready siblings.
The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness also adds in increased suspension height, skid plates for added protection, and all-terrain tires with black painted 17-inch wheels to set the Wilderness apart from the Forester's other models. Every design element was chosen and engineered to provide you with increased confidence as you move forward on exploring uncommon destinations and experiencing new situations.

INTERIOR TECHNOLOGY
While all Forester models come standard with a touchscreen infotainment system running Subaru's latest Starlink interface, the Wilderness model features the larger 8.0-inch touchscreen that changes the Forester's interior look and feel. This intuitive system features clear graphics and quick response times so that you can pay closer attention to the road than a screen. In addition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability are standard, as is onboard Wi-Fi via a 4G LTE data connection.
Drivers and passengers alike can stay connected and charged thanks to up to four USB ports being present in the vehicle. Additional interior technology systems include navigation, which is optional for the Forester Wilderness

SAFETY
All 2022 Subaru Forester models, including the Wilderness, feature the fourth iteration of the automaker's lauded EyeSight driver-assist safety system. Featuring dual cameras with nearly twice the field of view, EyeSight offers sensitivity when necessary to keep you on a straight path forward. There have been many leaps forward in terms of automobile technology in the past decade or so, but Subaru's ability to read the road, adjust the vehicle, and reduce on-road incidents is far beyond what was previously thought possible.
Subaru's dedication to safety is no secret, and this latest edition of EyeSight instills confidence and peace of mind in drivers and passengers alike. It is an innovative active safety system that utilizes two cameras to monitor the road ahead of you. Included technologies are adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management, lane departure and sway warning, and lane centring assist.
Across North America, there are millions of acres of dedicated wilderness waiting to be explored. For drivers that want a compact SUV with manners but also the confidence and capability to tackle such locales, there is no better choice than the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness.
