The 2020 Subaru Outback: World-Class Safety, Focused on Adventure
July 08 2019, Docksteader Subaru
The Outback has been a successful part of the automobile landscape for nearly 25 years and the latest model continues this legacy. The 2020 model kicks off a new generation of the Outback line with a top-to-bottom redesign and new engine options. No matter what trim you choose, this vehicle is the perfect partner for any adventure.
The exterior features sporty styling and a dynamic form that expresses strength and agility. Pronounced wheel arches and the elevated 220 millimetres of ground clearance enable the Outback to clear many obstacles on rugged paths. The optimized structure includes an improved Subaru Global Platform that is 70-100% stiffer in all areas. Use of ultra-high-tensile-strength steel increases 13% along with a 371% increased use of structural adhesive.
To complement the adventurous spirit of the Outback, all trims have standard integrated roof rails that carry your gear with ease.
Power and Handling for Any Trail in the 2020 Subaru Outback
The Outback is available with a choice of two engines ready for Canadian driving. The first option is a 2.5-litre SUBARU BOXER engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, it results in better acceleration and increased efficiency.
The second engine option is a turbocharged 2.4-litre SUBARU BOXER that generates 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This engine matches to a Lineartronic CVT that broadens the torque curve, with a peak between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm.
All Outbacks include symmetrical all-wheel drive, active torque vectoring, and X-Mode handling.
Load Up in the Expanded Interior of the 2020 Subaru Outback
Despite its outstanding performance and exterior, the Outback’s cabin should not be overlooked. High-quality design and materials frequent the interior along with a variety of available equipment. The 11.6-inch dash touchscreen has the look and functionality of a large smartphone or tablet and makes communication and entertainment a breeze. STARLINK Connected Services directly integrates into the vehicle and adds safety by providing automatic emergency assistance in the event of a collision.
The redesigned interior also features increased cargo space, a quieter environment with new insulated glass, and 60/40-split rear seats that provide flexible storage capacity.
